Just checked out White Arrows’ YouTube videos and wanted to post a couple that definitely need to be watched.

Watch some crabs get dolled up in the “Save Me A Place” video.

And check out the awesome animation in this video for “Coming or Going.”

Q&A: Lesands

Lesands, formely known as Arrowws, is music today: conceptual, progressive, synthesized and outstandingly creative. These boys from North San Diego, Austin Taylor Tirado, Joel Plotnik, Andy Briehan, and John Fredericks, have yet to release an EP but have been playing an abundance of shows from San Diego to LA. They frequently can be seen at the Bootleg Theater and a couple weeks ago played The Troubadour with Mississippi Man and Neverever. Music blogs by the dozens are praising them for their song “Pretenders,” due to it’s musical ingenuity and the band’s intoxicating synth-pop sound. If you haven’t heard it yet please do yourself a favor and put it on repeat. It never gets stale and it’s more difficult not to dance than bust a few moves.

Noisemaker: Vanessa Barnes of Semi Sweet

14 Sep

In Orange County, there is only one group predominately of females who call their music “bitch pop.” Their name in itself can tell you a lot about their music. Semi Sweet can be dark sometimes, nice sometimes and sexy with songs like “Sleazy.” Plus who doesn’t love a female drummer? Female drummers are a rarity but thankfully more and more ladies are starting to pick up drumsticks and show the boys how girls can kick ass too. Vanessa Barnes is one of the few female drummers in OC (Tomorrows Tulips and The Colourist also do) and she knows how to rock it. Let’s get to know her a little better.
