Q&A: The Steelwells

Their name may be The Steelwells, but their hearts and voices are made of gold and you can catch them every Monday night in June at Detroit Bar. Sharing the stage with Denny White, these are some of the busiest guys in local music. Also, the resident band at the Beauty Bar in San Diego this month, they are rocking their way up and down the Southern California coast making friends and new adoring fans as well as working on a follow-up EP to their hit Shallow On The Draft and three music videos.

Everyday News: The Indie Pedler Journal Release

Kim Conlan, aka “The Indie Peddler,” is releasing a self-published, self-constructed journal full of articles and essays about a lot of local bands, including Voxhaul Broadcast, Drums and Color, Billy Kernkamp, The New Limb—and even a story on The Growlers she wrote for Everyday Noise. Tonight at Detroit Bar, you’ll be able to purchase the journal, which comes with a CD sampler of songs by local bands. Details are on the flier below.

This past Tuesday, Everyday Noise headed over to the Birdhouse, the home of Costa Mesa-based The New Limb. Adam Chavez, producer/sound engineer and drummer for The New Limb, has opened up the band’s in-house studio for our bi-monthly Birdhouse Sessions featuring stripped-down performances by local bands/musicians.

Album Review: Semi Sweet, ‘A Little Bitter’

With their self-titled debut EP last year, Costa Mesa’s Semi Sweet established themselves as Orange County’s premier purveyors of female-fronted, lo-fi, moody indie rock. (Not that there’s many contenders to that title right now, but it’s an accomplishment nonetheless.)
